To me there is one before and one after my visit to this wonderful valley. What you experience there cannot be described by words, as it remains recorded in your heart. I still feel today as I then felt Abdullah's fondness, Hassan's kindness, the amiability of the Reis, Fahima's humility, the smiles of the children, and the sweetness of the valleys... Yes, the valleys with the everlasting presence of the river and the mountain chains, the indescribable beauty of this place, where the time stops and everything has its own way of feeling. Why don´t you try to see which would be yours?.
I embarked in the AgTrek Adventure without expectations. Like I use to do with all my trips, in order not to anticipate to anything and let myself to be surprised by life, and this time I got much more surprised than I had never thought. And this surprise was so pleasing ... We thought we were going to do a simple trekking and went back home with the fondness of this people and with our hands full. The geographical environment is unique, the people are humble, and they help you see how a simple life can make you happier and more satisfied than our 21st century super-modern life. Despite they have many lacks, they show them to us with a constant smile on their faces and with sweetness. They give us a constant lesson. This is where Acción Geoda is working.
AGTrek's offer is undoubtedly unique and authentic. I will tell you why: the trekking in the High Atlas, with local guides, is simply brilliant. In addition, you will enjoy the company of local muleteers, guides and you will experience lodgings at local houses. Very advisable as you will see beautiful landscapes combined with meeting their wonderful people.
What differentiates an AGtrek from other types of trekkings, is that you will get to know the valley with an NGO that has been working there for a long time. As a matter of fact, all the money you are paying for your trip will be destined to the Tamazight people. This will be done by either helping all the projects Acción Geoda are working on at the moment in the valley, or by paying directly the local people involved on the trekking.
The traveler will have the privilege of getting to know directly the Tamazight people, and to be lodged in their houses, eat and share their food, play with them, and enjoy their kindness and friendship. This is something you will never get to experience if you travel on your own. Acción Geoda is well recognized and respected in the whole valley and therefore, the visitor will feel “at home”. A sweet atmosphere can be felt and the confidence, openness and altruism that I felt there really thrilled me.
The whole package that an AGtrek offers makes it an unforgettable trip and a very vital positive experience, specially for the times that we are living nowadays.
The Tessaout valley is a place where you can leave behind your daily life, your worries, your compromises, your duties and your watch. If you do so, you will feel the heart of the valley, and maybe you will find some time to be with yourself and look at life with a different perspective whilst you learn and share with these people. When you return home, you will feel strengthened from your worries and happier with your daily life.
It is an EXTRAORDINARY experience. My mates and myself had a great time there. I could tell you many more things, this is why I think is better to stop now and encourage you, as I would tell my best friend, not to miss this wonderful, sportive, social and ecological opportunity to travel.
After this trip, I am a different person as I see my life from a different point of view. Maybe this trip has impacted me by the way I am and because how I feel now. But I think that everyone who gets to know the Tessaout valley, when leaving, a piece of it remains with you. At least, this is what I have been told by everyone who has been there. Do you want to join in?
Big hugs to you, travellers .
A moved friend of the Tamazight people, which I expect to visit again soon..:)
